To get the date along with time in the top bar in Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 LTE -
Still I could not find the option to display the year in date and to set the date format.
- Open dconf editor
- Press Alt + F1
- Search for dconf
- In dconf editor, check the option "clock-show-date" as shown here.
